Emma and Ellie reflect on their learnings and experiences during their first year at Rambutan.
We’ve now been part of the bunch for a year. What a year it’s been! This time last year, we’d just opened our A-Level results and the first door had opened for us into the world of work. This year has brought loads of new and unique experiences and opportunities. Looking back, our first day at Rambutan on 2 September 2021 only feels like yesterday. The people we were, that walked into the office that day, would be immensely proud of us today. We’ve facilitated meetings, delved deep into the detail with our amazing clients and colleagues and have oodles of responsibility.
Over the last year, our fellow bunch members have become more than just colleagues; they’re close friends who we’ve enjoyed many great moments with. One of these was our summer fun day, an exhilarating day away from our laptops. We immersed ourselves in a day of fun, magic and laughs, with a few photos along the way – who wouldn’t want to see Craig sporting a top hat?
Not only have we learnt specifics in our job roles, but we’ve also learnt to appreciate and value the importance of:
• having open and honest conversations
• giving and receiving feedback
• developing ourselves and celebrating success
• understanding those we work with, both on a work and personal level
• developing strong, trusting relationships with clients and bunch members
• one-to-one chats with those we work closely with
• having a work-life balance and checking in with our mental health
• sharing best ways of practice (tips and tricks to help each other)
Looking forward to the next 12 months, we’re eager to progress further in everything we do. We’re excited to carry on growing and developing this list, as we continue on our Rambutan journey.
What have you learnt to appreciate within your role?
