Ellie is one our newest bunch members, joining us as our Junior Management Consultant Apprentice.
The long-awaited anticipation of A-Level results day had finally arrived; I opened my envelope and breathed a sigh of relief. My last two years of hard work in French, Business and Sociology, during the pandemic, had paid off. However, it then suddenly dawned on me that these three grades marked the end of my school chapter, the end of an era. 14 years of compulsory education finally completed – so what now?
The traditional route is going to university, but this didn’t appeal to me – after over a decade of purely classroom learning, I wanted change. Breaking away from the norm isn’t the easiest and at times can be quite daunting. I had two options to pursue; an apprenticeship or a full-time job, both in the real world of work. I weighed up the pros and cons for each and settled for an apprenticeship which I saw as the ‘happy medium’. This was the perfect opportunity to further develop my prior knowledge and skill-set through the apprenticeship course, applying it practically while working full-time.
I began my search and soon came across Rambutan, a management consultancy, who were looking for an Apprentice. This was a perfect combination for me – an organisation that’s local and can offer me business-related learning alongside work and gaining real world experience. So here I am, the new Junior Management Consultant Apprentice!
So you may be wondering what my first couple of weeks have been like…
I’ve met the bunch who’ve all been extremely welcoming and friendly, and I’m starting to settle in and find my feet. I’ve also had a brilliant opportunity to meet and work with some of our wonderful clients. Again, they’ve all been exceptionally accommodating in allowing me to observe and play a part in our partnership with them, despite me being so new to the world of consultancy.
I’m looking forward to starting my apprenticeship learning so I can put my new knowledge and skills to good use at Rambutan.
