5 December is International Volunteer Day, and it’s also UK Charity week and Kat’s looking forward to doing a bit of volunteering of her own.
As part of Rambutan’s efforts for our charity of the year, the Air Ambulance, she will be spending a day in the local shop in Market Harborough, helping out with whatever needs doing to keep a busy town-centre charity shop running smoothly.
“I’m really looking forward to it! I actually spent a few months volunteering in Oxfam a few years back, and remember it as being a fun, rewarding and interesting job. The staff I met were all in it for the same reason as it’s unpaid…it’s for the love of it…and being a dedicated charity shopper (most of my clothes come from charity shops!) it’s a great place to be to see the items as they come in; it means you get to have first pick! In fact, when I worked in Oxfam I ended up having to leave because it was costing me too much money! I’d end my day leaving the shop with half the stock!
Market Harborough and Leicestershire locals – pop in to the shop over the coming weeks and say hello!
