The newest member of the Rambutan bunch, Ed, indulges us in his experience of his first week.
Warm and cosy I woke, ready and raring for my first day at Rambutan. I was very nervous on my arrival at Treetops. At this point I was warmly greeted by Lucy who briskly introduced me to the ever-so-enthusiastic bunch. Shortly afterwards, I had a welcome meeting with Lucy and by the end of my second day, I had met the whole bunch!
On my third day, I had my first meeting with Gemma, who introduced me to a summary of what I will be doing at Rambutan. The prospect of what Gemma spoke about truly excited me and I’m excited for what comes next. Most of the work I’ll be doing will be alongside Gemma to help make sure the business runs like clockwork. I love organisation, as does Gemma; all the Rambutan spreadsheets are looking great!
Before I had even had time to recollect what had happened in my first two days, I was well and truly settled in the office. Everyone here is unique in their own brilliant way and it soon became evident I was going to enjoy my time at Rambutan (I can still strongly confirm this is the case!). One of the reasons I fell in love with Rambutan when I came for my interview was the values that beam through each member of the team. Having learnt more about the Rambu-values, I can confirm they are at the heart and soul of the company and make each day refreshingly brilliant.
One of the main objectives in my diary for my first week was to modernise my LinkedIn profile to inform the world that I was now a proud member of the Rambutan bunch. Sadly, being a ‘numbers man’ meant I was unable to think of a creative, catchy title! Help was required at this point. In addition, the only previous work experience I’d had was cricket coaching and that wasn’t even on my profile. I had a lot of work to do!
In addition to LinkedIn, I had my welcome pack to ensure I found my feet as a member of the bunch and reveal the whole picture of what goes on around Rambutan.
Only a week or so in and I’ve learnt a huge amount about how the business runs and what goes on behind the scenes. I have high hopes for my experience at Rambutan and can’t wait to spend more time around all the bunch!
