Lucy was very surprised recently to see something a supplier was happy to share with his contacts.
At Rambutan we worked with a supplier some time ago, who will remain nameless for reasons that will become apparent, and we still receive marketing emails from him. Recently I decided to unsubscribe from his marketing emails and had a little chuckle when the response I got was this:
We’re not sure why any business would want to let their contacts know that they’re on the ‘Long Term Nurture List UK’. I wonder what he calls his other lists. Could be dangerous. Of course, it’s good practice to plan an appropriate level of communication with people and the best way to manage that might be with a named list, but surely, it’s not professional to share this information outside of the business.
I hope that whenever I get in touch with someone I haven’t spoken to for a while, they know they’re important to me. I would hate it if they thought it might be because I’m ‘nurturing them long term’.
This struck as a lack of professionalism from this supplier, and I’m afraid it reflects badly on his business as far as I’m concerned. Feel free to disagree!
