At Rambutan, we’re hugely excited and proud as punch that Craig recently achieved his Hogan assessment accreditation. We managed to grab a few minutes with Craig to chat about what this means.
Q: What’s Hogan assessment when it’s at home then?
It’s a series of leadership-focused, powerful personality assessments to help leaders understand their own deep-rooted motivations and values and how they link to the experiences others are likely to have of them when they interact. Hogan assessment has been around since the mid 80’s and draws on 40 years of scientific research and validation assessments to help form the future. Hogan himself is a guru of understanding personality and behaviour assessments.
Hogan assessment focuses on 3 people aspects of managers and leaders:
- ‘Hogan inside’ concentrates on your motives, values and preferences and looks at what drives you and the type of work culture that fits you, enabling leaders to see how their ‘work world’ is fitting with their own values and motives and the impact this has on them. As well as for existing leaders, ‘Hogan inside’ can be great for recruitment from both an employee and employer perspective
- ‘Hogan outside’ is your personality inventory. It’s what people experience when working or dealing with you. It’s your best side that you show to the outside world when you’re at work
- ‘Hogan dark side’ is the unique Hogan development survey which analyses your patterns and themes when you’re under stress/pressure or very comfortable at work. These parts of your behaviour can be a derailer as a leader and have a negative impact on others around you and the perceptions they hold about you
Q: How did you become a Hogan assessor and what does this mean?
I completed a two-day assessment practitioner’s programme with lots of self-assessment to challenge me and help me change the way I perceive people. I then gained my Hogan certification. The good news is I can now help support people and organisations by administering Hogan assessments to help individuals/leadership teams improve their performance and interpret their assessment results. This will benefit the individual, the team and the whole organisation.
Q: Why did you become a Hogan accredited assessor?
I was intrigued and curious as it’s such a unique assessment tool. After researching how Hogan compared to other leadership assessments and chatting to some of our clients who wanted their own Hogan assessment, I realised just how brilliant it would be for our clients with Hogan’s exclusive leadership series of assessments.
Q: How will this benefit our clients?
I’m now trained and qualified to undertake Hogan assessments for any of our clients. Every single potential and current leader can take a Hogan assessment. It can help with both internal promotion of leaders, recruitment and development of new and existing leaders to name but a few options.
Hogan assessments also work fantastically well when partnered with 360° feedback as they allude to key traits and impact on others. The assessments are also invaluable to leadership teams, who can complete assessments and see a team overview to help them develop as a high performing team.
Thanks for your time Craig and congratulations again on achieving such a respected accreditation.
